Dr. habil. Cornelius Hammer

Cornelius "Nils" Hammer is the Director of BFAFi's Institute for Baltic Sea Fisheries in Rostock since 01 July 2002, and Director General of the Federal Research Centre since 2006.
Member of the Federal Research Centre for Fisheries, at the Institute for Sea Fisheries, Hamburg, since December 1994.
General Secretary of the "Deutsche Wissenschaftliche Kommission für Meeresforschung" (German Scientific Commission for Marine Research) since 2006.

Education and professional experience
Studies of Hydrobiology and Fishery Sciences at the University of Hamburg, Diploma (Hydrobiology and Fishery Sciences) and Doctoral thesis (ecophysiology) at the University of Hamburg. 2.5 years project assistant and fishery expert at the University of Diliman, Manila, Philippines as a member of a GTZ-project. Consultant, evaluator for different project for GTZ, DAAD and NGO's in the Philippines, Indonesia, Sudan, India. Short-term lecturer for DAAD in Brazil (Manaus). Project Manager at GTZ for projects on techn ical cooperation in fisheries. Assistant professor at the University of Hamburg (1989-1995). Associate professor at the University of Hamburg since 1996.
