To produce objective state-of-the-art assessment and advice on population developments of commercially valuable resources in the North Sea, North Atlantic and the Antarctic
To evaluate effects of fishing on commercial species and impact of fisheries on the environment and the ecosystem, based on long term, regular monitoring
To investigate the ecology of fish assemblages and aspects of marine biodiversity in the various ecosystems
To provide scientific information for the Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection and other stakeholders in the fishing industry and marine environment community
