Planning Group on Herring Surveys
PGHERS is the group co-ordinating the Larvae surveys and the Hydroacoustic Survey on North Sea Herring and some other herring stocks south of 62°N. It also conducts the data evaluation, scrutiny workshops for quality control, and delivers the final estimates for herring biomass and the recruitment index MLAI to the Herring Assessment Working Group. The report of the group's meeting is available from ICES in February each year (http://www.ices.dk/committe/lrc/wg/pghers/pghers.htm).
Planning Group on Redfish Stocks
Planning Group for Surveys on Pelagic Fish in the Norwegian Sea (PGSPFN)
The ICES WG PGSPFN meets annually in August to analyse the most recent data from the cruises of the individual participants of the hydroacoustic surveys in the North East Atlantic on the Norwegian Spring Spawning Herring (Hydroacoustic Survey on Atlanto-Scandian Herring). Based on this analysis a preliminary estimate of the actual spawning stock biomass is given. This estimate is one of the primary indices for the assessment of the Norwegian spring spawning herring stock, delivered to the ICES Northern Pelagic and Blue Whiting WG. For further information see www.clupea.de, the report can be downloaded at http://www.ices.dk/committe/rmc/wg/pgspfn/pgspfn.htm.

Pacific Salmon Commission
Management of Pacific salmon has long been a matter of common concern to the United States and Canada. In 1985, after many years of negotiation, the Pacific Salmon Treaty was signed, setting long-term goals for the benefit of the salmon and the two countries. The Pacific Salmon Commission is the body formed by the governments of Canada and the United States to implement the Pacific Salmon Treaty. http://www.psc.org/
