The Information and Documentation Service covers, centrally for the Federal Research Centre for Fisheries, the fields of communication and information, databases, libraries (in Hamburg and Rostock), editing and publishing and public relations.. Selected Current Tasks The Information and Documentation Services (I&D) provides information for the research staff of the research centre and the public. They are responsible for editing and producing of the publications of the Centre, especially • Informationen für die Fischwirtschaft aus der Fischereiforschung • Schriften der Bundesforschungsanstalt für Fischerei • Jahresbericht der Bundesforschungsanstalt für Fischerei (Annual report). The I&D Services are based on the library's stock of 90 000 volumes and its own and numerous other online databases. It also takkes an active part in the development and production of the international information system "Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts" (ASFA), founded at Hamburg in 1970. ASFA is accessible to the public on the host computer ZADI at Bonn, and on other host computers in other countries.
